OVERVIEW
Superkicks approached Restore to create their Mumbai concept store as more than a retail space. The vision was to design a place connected to street culture and the city itself , a space that invites people to gather, interact, and engage through art, music, and community.
RESTORE POV
Our approach was to design a store that feels rooted in its context rather than imposed on it. Bandra offered a rich starting point , not only through its architectural heritage, but through its energy, character, and strong sense of place.
We wanted the space to reflect the dialogue between past and present: the nostalgia of the neighborhood alongside the bold, contemporary spirit of Superkicks. The result is an interior that feels expressive and grounded, where the brand’s street-driven identity meets the local story of Mumbai.
DETAILS
The design language takes direct cues from Bandra’s Portuguese architectural character, reinterpreting its, detailing, and decorative sensibility in a contemporary way. Mosaic-inspired surfaces reference the neighborhood’s visual texture, while layered shades of blue bring in the atmosphere of Mumbai’s sky and sea, giving the space a strong and memorable identity.
A defining feature of the store is the staircase, conceived as a sculptural element rather than a purely functional one. Its curved form creates a sense of movement through the space, while also acting as a visual anchor that ties the two levels together. Through these elements, the store becomes both contextual and distinctive, unmistakably Mumbai, and unmistakably Superkicks.
