Underdoggs Hyderabad is a contemporary sports bar designed as a gathering space for fans and diners alike. A venue charged with the energy of live sport, the space is social, immersive, and unapologetically centred on the love of the game.

Underdoggs Hyderabad is designed as a branded arena, a spatial experience shaped by collective engagement. Every element serves the central purpose: to amplify the thrill of live sport through carefully considered design gestures and refined materiality balancing individual details with overall atmosphere – premium without pretence. 

DETAILS

The venue is organised around uninterrupted sightlines, ensuring every seat in the house commands a view of the action.  

A pair of striking spiral light line installations suspended above the bar at either end – become the visual signature of the emotion of the space – expressing motion, build-up, tension and momentum – suspended animation. 

Stained-glass panels at the facade translate sporting motifs into bold geometric patterns filtering the lights as it streams in. A renaissance-inspired artwork anchors the DJ console and stage – heritage imagery reframed through a contemporary lens.  

Deep greens, blackened metals, and amber lighting ground the palette, while rich brown marble flooring adds substance and permanence. The booth seating zones are framed with bold silhouettes and the furniture lined with rivetted edges that play on the contrast between rugged strength and precision detail that celebrates sports and the community gathered to experience it.

RESTORE POV
For their Mumbai experience studio we brought together the brand’s French roots with Indian heritage craft and design elements including art, textiles and materials. The site – a quaint bungalow on a shady lane off the Juhu coastline was the perfect setting to create an earthy, rustic chic space with a coastal feel. 

DETAILS
The ground floor hosts an intimate experience studio inviting guests to experiment with Monin syrups. With a highly agile layout, the center effortlessly transitions from intimate tastings to larger workshops and professional seminars. The main bar – the heart of the space – is clad with cement patterned tile reminiscent of traditional athangudi tiles with cane bar stools. The bar shelves are simple and elegant allowing the product to be the hero. The flooring has the sensibility of 70’s terrazzo found in every Indian home of the period. The seating is upholstered in Ikat fabrics. 

‘The Monin Story’ is told through comic style illustrated panels set in a Rajasthani Kavad storytellers box unfolding the history of the brand.  

The space expands through a set of French windows out to an outdoor patio – a more casual and relaxed space to gather around a central communal table. The window jamb is lined with a custom designed and hand-painted Warli-style frieze where the usual dancing figures are also shaking up cocktails. An outdoor bar clad with terracotta breeze blocks is set off against an arched backdrop with shelves. A retractable awning provides shade and rain protection while fairy lights strung across from side to side create a warm, bright atmosphere in the evenings.  

The stairway that leads to the first floor is lined with decorative linear railings incorporating metal warli figures in the detail. The dancing figures lead you up to the first floor. The first floor, dedicated to private office spaces, provides a calm counterpoint to the experience zone below. Again, elements of warli art are seen in the decor with a wall frieze and a large mural of two Monin bottles in the conference room. 

On the outside the building is treated simply – painted walls with terracotta-colored accents and a warli frieze band running around the perimeter. A statement terracotta breeze block jali wall runs the height of the entire staircase on the outside. All around, the property is edged with plenty of plants including some old growth trees which have been preserved. A pathway made of granite pavers leads from the Main Gate with laser-cut letters spelling ‘MONIN’ to the front door made of fluted glass panels with a handle in the shape of a Monin bottle. Each of these little details brings a bit of the brand to every corner of this quaint property.

Underdoggs situated in Hebbal, reimagines the traditional sports bar by blending nostalgia with contemporary design. Classic sports iconography is reimagined through modern materials and refined finishes. The space channels the energy of live sports creating an environment that is high-energy while fostering a sense of community and belonging. 

 THE DETAILS 

Underdoggs combines raw industrial edge with warm, earthy tones. Upon entry, the central seating area, reminiscent of a grand stadium, surrounds guests with large screens that guarantee every seat enjoys a front-row view of the action, enhancing the communal thrill of the game. 

 Custom tabletops, crafted from tennis and cricket balls or designed to mimic basketball and tennis courts, offer a playful homage to the sporting world. Throughout, the walls feature iconic sports imagery, jerseys, and memorabilia, adding layers of tribute to athletic culture. 

 A dedicated gaming zone, complete with foosball, arcade games, and a pool table, is crowned by a striking chandelier of sports team flags, each fluttering against exposed filament bulbs. Its quiet grandeur adds an unexpected visual focal point, drawing attention with its commanding presence. 

 Premium materials punctuate the space, from the rich green and tan leather seating that exudes comfort and refined luxury. The fluted terrazzo bar counter with smooth texture and intricate pattern serves as a striking contrast to the industrial design. 

 Exposed metal light fixtures and metal details echoes stadium architecture. Carefully calibrated dim lighting establish a sophisticated contrast, tempering the space’s raw energy with an upscale ambiance. 

 A glass façade blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, allowing the lively energy to flow beyond the walls. The outdoor seating expands the social experience.

Social is a hybrid café, bar, club, workspace, community space, that is the perfect spot for a quick morning coffee or a late night party with a large group of friends. Known for its uniquely inspired interiors and cultural events, Social has become a go-to hub for entrepreneurs, artists, and urban professionals. JP Nagara Social, the brand’s 52nd outlet in India, brings together vernacular design and cultural storytelling, where sustainability, art, and craftsmanship create an immersive experience in the leafy and residential neighborhood it is situated in.

RESTORE POV

On this one-of-a-kind project, Restore designed both the architecture of the building from the ground up as well as the interior design. The structure was built using rammed earth construction, using the soil excavated from the very site the building stands on. The interior language is inspired by the cave-like spaces and forms created by the curved wing walls and by pre-historic cave paintings found at sites like Badami in Karnataka. The design uses natural materials like Shabad stone, reclaimed wood, terracotta Jali blocks, and cane & bamboo elements that are available locally and sustainably. Art and graphics are inspired by the unique style of linework and geometry from Chittara folk art local to the region. 

DETAILS

The curved, burnt-orange, three-story high wing walls create a striking silhouette, with a grand glass tube enclosed spiral staircase connecting all the levels perched at the corner. Slit windows formed between the curved rammed earth walls look out on to the dense foliage of trees adjacent to the site. Slender bamboo columns rise from the ground floor and spring into the triple-height ceiling, visually connecting the entire space floor while echoing the organic forms of nature.

The ground floor serves as the energetic heart of the venue, featuring a striking entrance door made of solid live-edge wood that leads into the expanse of the central atrium. The dramatic corner entry offers a full view of the triple-height central cavern with a rustic bar counter to the right, a DJ booth nestled at the base of the atrium to the left and an amphitheater of booth-seating rising from the floor at the far end. The first floor with mezzanine levels provides intimate seating areas, each overlooking the other while maintaining a connection to the larger space. The atmosphere is softened with lush greenery and delicate bamboo elements including wispy lampshades hanging in suspended animation in the atrium. The terrace is crowned by a bamboo canopy and a pitched Mangalore-tiled roof with built-in seating all around the perimeter.

The interplay between textures, from the rammed earth walls, leather finish Shabad stone flooring, hammered copper bar counter tops, to the salvaged recycled wood flooring on the mezzanine, offers a rich tactile experience. In the day, an organic bamboo trellis and frosted windows soften the bright daylight that streams in through the space. Once the sun goes down, custom crafted jute rope figurines cast long shadows on the rammed earth canvas flickering in the soft focused light.

“The Drawing Room” is an innovative concept from Impresario and Smoke House Deli that melts everyone’s beloved deli into an enchanting cocktail friendly dining experience – just up the stairs and down the rabbit hole.

“The Drawing Room” perfectly captures our vision of a space where artistry, conversation, and culinary indulgence converge. Our design seamlessly blends a modern Victorian drawing room with the charm of a quaint tearoom, creating a distinctive ambiance.

THE DETAILS 

The interior is a delightful play on whimsical garden aesthetics, creating an ambiance that feels simultaneously refined and playful.

Central to the design ethos is the integration of elements from Bangalore’s famed gardens. Native plants are thoughtfully incorporated, ensuring a tactile connection to the local landscape and imbuing the space with authenticity. As guests explore, they encounter an array of curated sculptures, artworks, and vintage decor pieces, adding an artistic layer.

Hand painted artworks featuring characters from Alice in Wonderland but with a twist can be found all around the space, you never know who is looking back at you when you turn a corner or look up at the ceiling.

The classic bar, mirrored ceiling along with vintage style armchairs in floral print upholstery add to the coziness and old- world charm of the space.

Third Wave Coffee are committed to serving you fresh, delicious coffee that has been sourced ethically and sustainably. They believe in constant innovation to design coffees for both the experienced and novice palate. Working with passionate people is always a treat and we wanted to match their energy with the space that enhance their core beliefs.

The Restore POV

We were tasked with designing the flagship of Third Wave Coffee. The concept of cappuccino was taken to heart by exploring all of the ways in which coffee can be shown. We studied the operational requirements that go into the making of coffee, how their outlets functioned and what made them tick. That led us to develop unique ways of showcasing essential coffee elements, by way of illustrations, decor and many other details. The brewing of this site was both a fulfilling and learning experience.

At the forefront of the our concept was the prominence of the bar and the Roastery, as a request from the client. The unique site allowed us to focus on the coffee making experience, and the faces of the brand right at the entry. Monotonous nature of colour is balanced by the textural elements. The exhaust system is turned into a signature decorative element.

The Details

The main indoor seating is situated on the mezzanine floor. We designed an amorphous central structure that acts as a separator, creating zones and fluidity in the layout. It is an expression of ‘coffee as art’ with caged artifacts, completed by comfortable seating, speckled table tops and pavers inserted in just the right places. A tinted mirror reflects this caffeined environment.

Designing work spaces into the bustling environments of cafes, is not only challenge but a must. For TWC, we ensured they were a conscious requirement that seamlessly integrated into the bookshelves dressing one of the main walls, with outdoor views for moments of contemplation. Many pockets occupy the indoor seating section. Adorned with plush seating and corners that can even entertain those “I’ve-got-my-headphones-on-so-don’t-disturb-me” instances. A space for family, friends and board game foes.

The Smoke House Deli in Lower Parel, is the first 2.0 version designed and executed in Bombay. Restore had to apply the new retail identity to pre-existing space, that needed some love and attention.  Working on the latest branch of this restaurant meant telling a simple tale on an elevated platform: The narrative of serving great fresh food, made with love, that makes you smile. 

The Restore POV

Big things come in small packages – that was the principle behind the impact Restore tried to create for this specific site due to its narrow nature. Inviting and cosy had to open up to an expansive dining hall in the end, including the incorporation of the ‘goodness to go’ section and the signature SHD 2.0 bar – visible from the get go.

The Details

The narrow entry had to be maximised for impact through a cosy yet attention grabbing outdoor seating,  created by recessing the secondary facade. The ‘goodness to go’ section complete with the ledge seating are laid out at the front, followed by the expansive bar , that draws the consumer through the length of the space. The artwork done with Priya Dali, talk of food, in a technological time. The ingredients that pull this together remain as in the 2.0 concept – adding texture to the walls, amusement through the art, freshness through the materials and ultimately delight the customer with the whole picture.

Get lost in a tropical moment, jump into a pool of excitement, float on a wave of euphoria – Vannakam to the Social vibe. Social Mount Road, takes the best qualities of the city of Chennai, and presents them to you on a neon platter. Capturing the essence of sun, water, wind and light, the theme of the space is centered around the idea of ‘Vanakkam Ibiza’, a new age take on ‘vapour-wave’ which is a visually nostalgic genre from the 2000s.

This freespace, that allows you to be who you are and do what you want, was born out of the vision that Riyaaz Amlani has for Social. In the words of Federico Fraternale, Head of Design, Restore, “Freespace allows you to configure the space in any way the user imagines, including something that it had not necessarily been designed for. Its free. For a brand that believes in self expression – of the local community – this seemed to us the perfect design solve”.

The Details

The 8000 sft space, Is designed to transport you into an ibizan pool party. The architecture of the space lends itself to form an iconic pool, as the epicenter, with levitating beach balls as lights.. The pool, is surrounded by cabanas, ocean view style terraces and sun deck elements complete with a sun umbrella. The space is bathed in colours of the sunset, with a neon take and decorated with warm wicker details and pool party must haves. Social extends itself into a basket ball court and a skating rink that give it a California beach-side feeling. This grand entrance to the higher levels of Social, lift up your spirits and provide you with an unforgettable experience and also, a cool place to chill out.

Smoke House Deli is a much loved bistro that’s all about offering great food in an ambience that’s relaxed and fun. Perfect place to hang out with friends, away from the maddening rush of the city outside. But a change in the menu was the perfect opportunity to spruce up the bistro. So that was the brief: redesign Smoke House Deli.

At Restore, we’ve always believed in story telling and its power to bring brands alive. For Smoke House Deli, we built the customer experience around the central idea of abundance.

The details

The first thing you’ll notice is that food and wine fills the island bar. The mood of a European bistro shows in the furniture, use of light materials and the greenery. The art on the walls is whimsical.

Our challenge was to preserve the art, so we researched new materials and methods. Hand painted tiles fill the walls, lending an artisanal value to Smoke House Deli. You can’t miss the the handmade sculptures and curated elements Every inch is handcrafted and meant to make you smile. We helped breathe new life into a much loved brand.

At Restore, we believe every Social outlet must have a story to tell. Most importantly, our design solution has to help Social live up to its name: be inclusive and welcoming of everyone who seeks different experiences.

The Details

An empty shell of a partly constructed space on the top floor of a commercial property was transformed to look like an abandoned penthouse. A unqique penthouse that has now been vandalised. This design tact, fits perfectly with Social’s philosophy of recycle and upcycle. Sarjapur Social also draws its inspiration from the Playboy penthouse created by Hugh Hefner.

The marble flooring, the retro furnishing, the fresco, the long winding staircase, the chandeliers, all hark back to a time when things were less rushed, with fewer distractions in the way. And going by the response of the patrons, the objective was achieved in an emphatic manner!
