Designed to be complementary to schools, the Openhouse learning hub is a holistic afterschool learning space for children aged 4 to 18 years with classes on academic and extra-curricular topics of interest, located in the comfort of their neighbourhood. Our task was to design a fun ecosystem that takes away the seriousness of a typical school environment and revolutionizes learning.

The Restore POV

Openhouse environments designed by us are meant to be active spaces where learning and play blend. Thought has gone into child-friendly and discoverable areas while also maintaining a high aesthetic level that allows the space to be timeless and palatable for all key stakeholders – students, parents, teachers, and the Openhouse staff.

The Details

The classrooms are open and welcoming. Designed to capture light, maintain functionality, and give an impression of more space within. The washrooms are fun and whimsical! Tiled to add colour and joy. When students experience this space as a whole, all the various elements leave them with a sense of joy and fulfillment – and as they leave an Openhouse learning centre, they are reminded to Choose to be Better.

There are discussion areas and reading nooks fitted into the layout of the Openhouse spaces, keeping young adults and their needs in mind. Every corner reveals a new format allowing for variety.

The learning rooms are angled and designed to remind one of home and connect to the brand name “Openhouse”. For the younger students, the classrooms are all about play. The main highlight is the ball pit classroom, it is a signature feature of all Openhouse locations (and the most fun). Art that is consistent across both online and offline decorates the walls, along with central seating features.

Elemental are in the business of creating bespoke fixtures and furniture for retail brands, commercial enterprises and residences. They execute retail design solutions for some of the world’s leading brands and now needed a retail design solution for their own offices.

The Restore POV

At Restore, our intention was to have a complete relook at Elemental’s 10000sqft factory in Bangalore. In other words, a brand that has built its reputation helping beautify retail, commercial and residential spaces has to look the part, as well.

The details

The way we went about creating a retail design solution for Elemental was to create an environment with bionic and fluid shapes that make up for the existing rigid structure. The retail design solution is Vaastu-compliant, the ancient Indian science of architecture. Last but not least, the design solution prominently featured the colour Red, as it is the brand colour of Elemental.

USPL owns young, fun fashion brands like Wrogn. They are all about breaking the rules and questioning the status quo and constantly pushing the edge. Their brief to the Restore team: design their work space.

The Restore POV

Here’s a brand that’s all about breaking the rules. So we had our task cut out: create a work space that didn’t look like a conventional work space. Make it fun, lively and so full of energy. Needless to say, this project didn’t feel like work at all!

The details

We created a space with bright colours, natural materials and lovely graphics. Boxy cabins get in the way of collaboration, so we opened up the space. We maximised the natural light and added a whole lot of greenery, making the space a lovely sight for sore eyes. Monday morning blues? Certainly not here!

In a world where kids are born glued to their screens, Pratham Books is a non-profit publisher with a noble mission: Introduce children to the joy of reading. Our task was to design an office space for these wonderful folks.

The Restore POV

Readers have habits that mark them out so clearly. So we decided to celebrate the entire process of first learning to read and then discovering its joys. This was the inspiration behind our design solution for their office space. And we loved every moment of bringing this project alive!

The details

So we started with a bright design idea that brings alive the company’s purpose. A bold splash of yellow and quirky iconography combined with bespoke ceiling lights creates a nice vibrant space. We brought alive the idea of literacy using a key graphic hook – ‘words’, manifested playfully on walls and even decor props. Like the black slate that all kids use when they start learning. All across, the office space is designed to connect to the core objective of child literacy via books.
